2016 saw some super improvements by our swimmers with the shortlist of nominations for swimmer of the year including Murroe Boher Junior B Hurler David Richardson, Australian David Coleman,  Erin O'Donoghue Martina Clancy Deirdre Hynes, Peter Power, Neil Jordan and Emma Ryan.

However the winner is most deserved in Kieran Boland who completed his first Ironman earlier this year proving that with determination and practice you can achieve anything. 

Speaking to GoTri.ie earlier this week renowned swimmer David Richardson said that he was truly disappointed to have lost out on swimmer of the year for 2016 and said he has since bought Bolands floatable shorts on Ebay in the hope of  getting his career back on track.

Aussie Dave told us he is not surprised with the result as he had installed a new bath in Kierans house to allow him practice for the longer distances in preparation for Barcelona.

Boland will be launching his Auto Biography entitled - From Lane 1 to Ironman - in Durty Nellys Bunratty tonight at 8PM and will be signing copies at Colbert Station, Limerick tomorrow from 2-5.

In the most improved catogory Deirdre Hynes, Neil Jordan and Peter Power were victorius.
